From Bitcoin to XRP: VivoPower Bets Big on Ripple for Institutional Investors

VivoPower (Nasdaq: VVPR) is doubling down on XRP with a bold new joint venture designed to give investors massive indirect exposure to Ripple Labs. The plan? Source $300 million in Ripple equity for institutional and qualified retail investors in South Korea, one of XRP’s largest global markets.

Through its digital asset arm, Vivo Federation, VivoPower has teamed up with South Korea-based Lean Ventures to secure the initial tranche of Ripple shares. Based on today’s XRP prices, that stake equates to roughly 450 million XRP, valued at about $900 million.

Here’s the twist. This isn’t a direct XRP purchase. Instead, Lean Ventures will create a dedicated investment vehicle holding Ripple Labs shares sourced by Vivo Federation. VivoPower itself is not putting its own balance sheet at risk. Instead, it will earn management fees and performance-based carry, aiming for $75 million in net returns over three years if the $300 million mandate is fully executed.

The deal has Ripple’s approval for an initial purchase of preferred shares, with further acquisitions being negotiated with existing institutional holders. VivoPower declined to comment further, citing legal constraints on disclosing market-sensitive details.

This move builds on VivoPower’s ongoing XRP-focused strategy. Earlier this year, the company raised $121 million in a private placement led by Saudi investor Abdulaziz bin Turki Abdulaziz Al Saud. It also deployed $100 million of XRP into yield-generating strategies via Flare’s FAssets system and adopted Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin for treasury operations.

VivoPower’s pivot signals a major shift in publicly traded companies’ approach to digital assets. While many continue to anchor strategies around Bitcoin or Ethereum, VivoPower is betting heavily on XRP, turning it into a cornerstone of its treasury and investor offerings.
